Iran, Pope Leo XIV: ‘Fear of conflict escalation, silence the weapons’

Rome, 8 March (LaPresse) – “News continues to arrive from Iran and throughout the Middle East that causes deep consternation. In addition to the episodes of violence and devastation and the widespread climate of hatred and fear, there is the fear that the conflict will spread and other countries in the region, including dear Lebanon, will sink back into instability. We humbly pray to the Lord that the roar of bombs may cease, that weapons may fall silent, and that a space for dialogue may open up in which the voice of the people can be heard.‘ Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV at the end of the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square. ’I entrust this plea to Mary, Queen of Peace. May she intercede for those who suffer because of the war and accompany hearts along paths of reconciliation and hope,” added the Pontiff.
