Iran, Tajani: ‘Staff reduced at embassies in Baghdad and Beirut’

Rome, 8 March (LaPresse) – ‘The situation is still worrying in some areas, so much so that we have decided to reduce the staff at our embassies in Baghdad and Beirut. Only personnel essential to diplomatic activities will remain at the two locations.’ This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at a press conference at the Farnesina. ‘To date, approximately 25,000 Italians have returned,’ of whom ‘5,000 between last night and today have returned or are in flight’ from various areas, ‘not only the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, but also Israel, the Maldives, Thailand, Cambodia and Sri Lanka,’ Tajani added.
