Rome, 1 April. (LaPresse) – “My will is to attempt one last mediation, because in recent years we have always found a synthesis on important laws for women and even today it is essential to do so”. Thus the president of the Senate Justice Commission Giulia Bongiorno, contacted by LaPresse, returns to talk about the bill against violence against women. “I proposed to start again from my first proposal, that of ‘recognizable consensus’ – he explains – and I wanted to insist on the fact that it is too important to reach a mediation for a shared text. Next week in the select committee we will understand whether these positions are similar”. As for the opposition, according to which the only possibility of reaching an agreement is to start again from the text approved in the Chamber, Bongiorno replies: “I am against ultimatums and I think that the only possibility of reaching mediation is to seek it together. It is clear that there is a rift and if everyone remains firm on their own position we will not get out of it, so the invitation to everyone is to find a meeting point, in the interests of women first and foremost”.
