Gas, Descalzi: ‘We need to suspend the tender for Russian LNG from 2027’

Milan, 12 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘I believe we need to suspend the tender due to come into effect on 1 January 2027 for 20 billion cubic metres of LNG’ – liquefied natural gas – ‘supplied by Russia’. This was stated by Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, on the sidelines of the Lega’s political school in Rome. “And I would also suggest, as the Italian government is saying, that we review the ETS, the tax on the entire heavy industry. I am not saying it should be abolished, but it must be suspended or redistributed, so as not to further penalise an industrial sector that already pays a high price for energy,” he added.
