This was stated by the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese, at a press conference at the European Parliament, in response to a question about what message she would send to governments that continue to collaborate with Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, referring also to the decision by Italy and Germany not to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Albanese then criticised the “schizophrenia displayed by many governments, on the one hand saying they are suspending military agreements, contracts or trade with Israel, and on the other renewing their support for Israel”. “There are consequences. Even when a child lies, there are consequences; how is it possible that there are none for those in power who lie simply to please public opinion?” he said.
