All we remember of this government’s culture ministers are dramatic disputes over the cinema, cuts and incidents bordering on the shameful, such as the Regeni case. To be a minister, you also need a government that shows you the way. This government, however, apart from its daily propaganda on immigration and security – an issue on which it has failed – focuses on laws concerning how to manage its own power. Despite low wages and social difficulties, they talk only of electoral law. Talks with the opposition? We’ll only sit down at a table if we’re talking about wages and salaries. We have nothing to discuss with those who keep the premiership on the table. We’re only interested in discussing how to raise Italians’ wages.” So said the leader of the PD senators, Francesco Boccia, speaking to journalists at Palazzo Madama.
