Milan, 14 May (LaPresse) – “Over the past year, the increase in military spending worldwide, and in Europe in particular, has been enormous: we must not call ‘defence’ a rearmament that heightens tensions and insecurity, diverts investment away from education and healthcare, undermines faith in diplomacy, and enriches elites who care nothing for the common good. We must also keep a watchful eye on the development and application of artificial intelligence in both military and civilian contexts, to ensure that it does not remove human responsibility from decision-making and does not exacerbate the tragedy of conflicts.” Pope Leo XIV said this in his address in the main hall of La Sapienza University in Rome.
