Milan, 24 May (LaPresse) – The agreement that the United States and Iran are about to sign provides for a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, during which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, Iran would be able to sell its oil freely, and negotiations would be held to limit Iran’s nuclear programme, according to a US official. Axios reports this, citing a US official who provided a detailed description of the draft. During the 60-day period, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened without tolls and Iran will agree to remove the mines it has deployed in the strait to allow ships to pass freely. In return, the US would lift the blockade on Iranian ports and grant certain sanctions waivers to allow Iran to sell its oil freely. The draft memorandum of understanding also makes clear that the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon would end, Axios adds. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly expressed concern about this condition during a phone call with Trump on Saturday, an Israeli official said.
