Brussels, 28 May (LaPresse) – Regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, “Hungarian representatives are in Brussels today to discuss various issues. I therefore hope they will also bring us good news on the opening of the clusters.” This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, upon arriving at the informal Foreign Affairs Council in Cyprus. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s proposal to offer Kyiv ‘associated member’ status in the Union is “based on a very good idea. The idea is that we need to speed things up with Ukraine. They must join the European Union” but “these processes take time and the idea is how we can speed things up at the various stages. But that is not what we will be discussing today,” she added.
