Milan, 28 May (LaPresse) – A primary school in Soustons, in the south of France, will remain closed today and tomorrow afternoon to protect the children from the extreme heat, after the heatwave caused temperatures in the school’s corridors to reach 53°C. On Tuesday, the temperature exceeded 30°C outside the Isle-Verte primary school, but thermometers recorded much higher readings in the corridors, according to Florian Deygas, the deputy mayor responsible for education. “There were even cases of children feeling unwell and vomiting,” added Deygas, who was present this morning at the school’s opening, pointing to the long glass front that runs the length of the building, which is responsible for the surge in temperature.
