Milan, 1 June (LaPresse) – “My resignation? It wasn’t fair, and it had nothing to do with my political or administrative work. Ask the trade associations how I performed. I believe I did well, within my limitations, of course.” This was stated by former Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè in an interview with La Repubblica, on the sidelines of the opening of her new beach resort in Versilia, ‘Tala Beach’. On why she stepped down from her post, the former minister said: “I didn’t win a competition to become a minister; instead, I accepted a proposal from the Prime Minister. No public call for applications, just a political choice. And so, faced with a public demand based on ‘n’ reasons that have nothing to do with my work, I stepped aside. The important thing in life is to behave well, with loyalty and respect. She, Giorgia Meloni, is the leader of my party.” “Over the last two months, I have set about doing what a senator ought to do. Attending the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee. Working for my party, Fratelli d’Italia. I continue to believe in the values Giorgia Meloni speaks of,” Santanchè explained further. Her friend Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister, was not at the party for her new facility. Santanchè laughs… “It was impossible for her to come, let’s not kid ourselves. But you’re right, Giorgia is a dear friend, and she’s the absolute best,” she says.
Santanchè: ‘It was unfair to make me resign; I stepped down solely out of loyalty to Meloni’
