Rome, June 6 (LaPresse) – A fire broke out in Ostia inside the abandoned ‘Oasi’ beach establishment, located on Via Amerigo Vespucci. The alarm was raised at around 3:20 p.m., when the operations center of the Rome Fire Brigade dispatched the Ostia 13/A unit to the scene, supported by a water tanker and a breathing apparatus vehicle. Upon arriving quickly at the site, firefighters began extinguishing the flames and carrying out inspections inside the structure to verify whether any people were involved. During the operation, personnel found burning newspapers placed on mattresses. This element does not rule out the possibility of arson and will be the subject of further investigations by law enforcement authorities. The fire was brought under control without significant consequences and no injuries were reported. Emergency medical personnel from the 118 service and law enforcement officers also attended the scene and launched investigations to determine the cause of the blaze. The establishment had been seized by the Municipality of Rome Capital a few weeks ago. During the intervention, firefighters also discovered gas cylinders inside the facility.
