Rome, June 8 (LaPresse) – Several positive changes for Italy in the women’s world rankings published this morning by the WTA after the conclusion of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year held on the clay courts of Paris. This week there are still two Italian players in the top 100. The Italian leader remains Jasmine Paolini: the 30-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, who dropped out of the top ten three weeks ago (where she had remained continuously since June 7, 2024, after reaching the Roland Garros final), loses another position and is now 14th. Behind her, Elisabetta Cocciaretto drops three places to number 41. Thanks to reaching the round of 16 at the WTA 125 in Foggia, Lisa Pigato climbs six places to number 132, setting another personal best. The 22-year-old from Bergamo is ahead of Lucia Bronzetti, who exited the top 100 at the end of October and, thanks to her semifinal run at the Open delle Puglie, jumps 25 places to number 147. Another significant rise comes for the Foggia finalist, 18-year-old Tyra Caterina Grant, who gains 27 positions, rising to number 157 and achieving a new career best. Lucrezia Stefanini drops 17 places to number 169, while Nuria Brancaccio also loses 14 positions, now ranked 177. Thanks to her victory at the $60,000 tournament in Zaragoza, Spain, Jennifer Ruggeri becomes the biggest climber among Italian players this week, gaining 54 places to reach number 213, a career best. Samira De Stefano drops two places to number 268, while Jessica Pieri falls six places to number 264, closing the Italian top ten.
