Rome, 12 June (LaPresse) – Gennaro Balsamo, a member of the powerful “Di Lauro” clan, has been arrested after more than three years on the run. The investigations were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit and coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Appeal. The man operated mainly in the northern part of the Neapolitan capital and was the subject of an initial sentence of 25 years, 10 months and 20 days’ imprisonment, with a remaining sentence of 10 years, 2 months and 20 days’ imprisonment, for criminal association of a mafia nature, robbery, and extortion aggravated by mafia methods, as well as tax evasion and organised drug trafficking.
