Milan, 16 June (LaPresse) – The Competition Authority has launched an investigation into Apple regarding compliance with the interoperability requirements set out in the Digital Markets Act, to which Apple’s iOS and iPadOS operating systems are subject. Apple must ensure that third-party consumer cloud service providers are granted, free of charge, effective interoperability with the iOS and iPadOS operating systems and equal access to the same hardware and software components that are available to Apple’s iCloud service. The Authority “has grounds to believe that third-party consumer cloud service providers may not be placed on an equal footing with Apple’s iCloud service”.
