Milan, 16 June (LaPresse) – It’s now official: Ruben Amorim is Milan’s new manager. The Rossoneri club announced this in a statement, adding that the former Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United manager has signed a contract running until 2028 with an option for a third season. Milan announced that “it has entrusted the managerial reins of the men’s first team to Ruben Amorim”, the statement reads. Amorim began his coaching career in 2018, after retiring as a professional footballer, during which time he played for Belenenses and Benfica, as well as the Portuguese national team. Following his first coaching stints at Casa Pia and Braga, in 2020 he took charge of Sporting CP, ushering in an era characterised by a strong playing identity, innovation and the development of players. This approach has yielded tangible results: two Portuguese league titles, two League Cups and one Super Cup. Before joining Milan, he served as manager of Manchester United. Throughout his career, Amorim has developed a modern, attacking tactical approach, underpinned by solid organisational structure, demonstrating a particular ability to nurture young talent and guide them on their path to development. Milan “extends a warm welcome to Rúben and his staff”.
