Rome, 17 June, (LaPresse) – In Lebanon, “after more than 100 days of intensified hostilities – beginning on 2 March – 247 children have been killed and 992 injured, with an average of 12 children killed or maimed every day”. This was stated in a press release by Marcoluigi Corsi, UNICEF’s representative in Lebanon. “Behind these staggering figures lie lives cut short or changed forever, and families facing profound loss, trauma and uncertainty,” he said. “The numbers alone cannot convey the full scale of the crisis. In addition to those who have been killed and maimed, an entire generation of children has had their childhoods turned upside down. Their sense of security – which every child needs to grow and thrive – remains deeply compromised,” he added.
