Rome, 24 June (LaPresse) – Qatar will oppose any Iranian plan to impose tariffs in the Strait of Hormuz. “This is contrary to international protocol. For a country like Qatar, it is our only maritime corridor,” said Doha’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in an interview with the Financial Times. “If the Iranians propose a model, they must put forward their case and we must examine it. We cannot accept a situation or condition in which our gateway to the world is controlled,” he added.
