Rome, June 24 (LaPresse) – The approval of the labour decree “is for us a fundamental step, I said it earlier in my speech in the chamber; it is a decree we worked on a lot, on which we also had important shared agreement and significant dialogue with social partners. It arrives as a May Day decree now converted into law, but it is the result of work that has been ongoing for four years and that sees us bring labour and social policy issues into every major measure adopted by the Meloni government,” said Labour Minister Marina Calderone on the sidelines of the Senate proceedings. “The decree is also the result of policies we implemented in the 2026 budget law – she added – we supported collective bargaining renewals, we supported tax incentives for second-level bargaining and for strenuous work. Today we support companies that hire young workers or operate in the territories of the Single Special Economic Zone of Southern Italy, we support the stabilisation of fixed-term contracts, especially those with causal reasons, thus providing continuity. Our measures share a common spirit, that of building and adding important pieces; we are introducing the concept of fair wage by law and anchoring it to overall economic treatment.”
