Lebanon: President Aoun welcomes Meloni and Macron’s announcement on a post-UNIFIL coalition

Rome, 26 June (LaPresse) – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has welcomed the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni regarding efforts to form an international coalition on a post-UNIFIL mechanism. This was reported by the Lebanese news agency NNA. Aoun described the initiative as a “sincere expression of the international commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability, and a recognition of the role played by the Lebanese Armed Forces in maintaining security and extending state authority across the whole of Lebanese territory, particularly in the southern border areas”.
