Turin, 26 June (LaPresse) – An 18-month-old boy found last Monday unconscious and suffering from hyperthermia in a car in a car park in Marseille has died. The child passed away in hospital, where he had been taken in a critical condition, a few hours later. The child was found in a car park on the campus belonging to the University of Aix-Marseille. According to Bfmtv, the parent is believed to have left the child in the car whilst heading to work on campus. The public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to establish the causes of death. Although a direct link to the heatwave has not yet been officially established, temperatures in Marseille reached 33°C. The Bouches-du-Rhône department was on orange alert that day.
