Rome, 2 July (LaPresse) – “Being here tonight is a statement of principle. No one will ever be able to call into question the friendship and good relations between Italy and the United States of America. Your presence here bears witness to the fact that freedom and democracy are non-negotiable values.” So said Deputy Prime Minister and Lega Secretary Matteo Salvini, speaking at the traditional reception at Villa Taverna in Rome, which this year marks the 250th anniversary of American independence. “In the US Constitution, the right to life, the right to liberty and the right to the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights,” he added.
