Milan, 7 July (LaPresse) – “My support for Marine Le Pen is total, and my loyalty will never depend on circumstances. I will not forget to whom I owe my path to political engagement. Nor will I forget the battles we promised to fight together.” This was the message posted on Monday evening by Jordan Bardella, leader of the far-right Rassemblement National (RN) party, on the eve of the eagerly awaited appeal ruling concerning Le Pen, which will decide her political fate. “It will be an important, extraordinary day. But I want to reiterate this here: nothing can justify Marine Le Pen being excluded from the French people’s choice and prevented from standing before them. At a time when millions of French people are placing their hopes and trust in her, depriving her of the opportunity to seek their votes would constitute a serious violation of the French people’s freedom of choice,” wrote Bardella. And further: “To you, Marine, I simply want to say this: you could count on me yesterday, you can count on me today and you will be able to count on me tomorrow. Together, for all the French people, until victory.” Should the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal mean that Marine Le Pen is barred from standing in the 2027 French presidential election, the 30-year-old Bardella would run for the Élysée Palace in her place.
