Naples, 7 July (LaPresse) – “SSC Bari, SSC Napoli, Aurelio and Luigi De Laurentiis were stunned to learn of the allegations raised in the search and seizure order issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Bari, and carried out this morning.” This is stated in a press release which emphasises that “SSC Bari, SSC Napoli, Aurelio and Luigi De Laurentiis calmly express their firm conviction that their position will be swiftly clarified before the competent judicial authority, and hope for a prompt request to have the proceedings dismissed, given the utmost rigour with which those involved operate on a daily basis – and have always operated – in full and scrupulous compliance with the law, accounting principles and federal regulations”. “The investigators’ findings,” the statement further clarifies, “concern the transfer between group companies of a footballer, Elia Caprile, whose value had been quantified, by means of a sworn expert report, prior to the completion of the transaction, by an independent and authoritative third party – a professional who had previously acted as a consultant to the judicial authorities and is highly respected within the football sector, and who is entirely unconnected to the persons under investigation. It is also astonishing, moreover, that the Public Prosecutor’s Office itself has requested the compulsory liquidation of SSC Bari under Article 38 of the CCI, given that the club is fully compliant with its financial obligations and its operating losses – which are commonplace in the football sector – are systematically covered by the owners using their own funds.”
