Turin, July 9 (LaPresse) – The music world is mourning. British singer Bonnie Tyler, known for major hits such as ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and ‘It’s a Heartache’, has died at the age of 75. “Bonnie’s family and team announce with profound sorrow her sudden passing last night in hospital in Portugal due to the illness for which she had been receiving treatment,” a statement published on the artist’s official website reads. “We will release a further statement, but for now we ask that our privacy be respected during this time of grief.” Born in Wales as Gaynor Hopkins, the singer, an icon of the 1980s, had been admitted to hospital in Faro, where she owned a home, last May following emergency bowel surgery.
