Devon and Cornwall Police stated today that the man is no longer under investigation. “Detectives are continuing to carry out a wide range of enquiries as part of the ongoing investigation, and we remain committed to establishing all the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police said. Widdecombe, aged 78, was found dead on Thursday at her country home near Dartmoor National Park in south-west England, and the 26-year-old was arrested the following day in a nearby town. According to the police, the murder does not appear to be a terrorist act nor to have been politically motivated.
