Turin, 13 July (LaPresse) – The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, has announced that he will summon Russia’s ambassador to France and that sanctions will be imposed against certain Russian hackers. Speaking on BFM TV, the minister denounced “a vast cyber campaign aimed at sabotage and espionage, conducted by Moscow in around ten European countries”. In the coming days, he explained, he will summon “the Russian ambassador to France” and impose sanctions against “nine individuals and four entities” deemed responsible for “this cyber campaign orchestrated by the FSB”. The Foreign Minister went on to state that Paris would “publicly denounce” this “large-scale cyber campaign aimed at sabotage, but also at espionage, carried out in several European countries”. According to the French foreign minister, Russian cyberattacks “target companies, ministries and operators with the aim of gathering information or sabotaging the operation of railway infrastructure, as happened in Poland”.
