Naples, 15 July (LaPresse) – “The statement “Italy for Italians” is in no way objectionable but is certainly worth supporting, because it encompasses all the citizens of our country. It is, moreover, a phrase that has been repeated on several occasions by the political movements that make up the current government.” This was stated by the Minister for Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, in response to a question from Rossano Sasso, an MP for Futuro Nazionale, regarding the banner displayed by two pupils at the Monti High School in Cesena bearing the words “Italy for Italians” on the last day of term. The two students were given a mark of 6 for conduct and were set the task of preparing an essay to be presented at their school-leaving exams on the racial laws and the themes of the documentary ‘Gli africani siamo noi’. “Following the decisions taken by the class council at the Monti High School in Cesena regarding the conduct of the two students who displayed the banner,” explained Valditara, “I deemed it necessary to immediately launch an inspection through the Emilia-Romagna Regional Education Office. The inspection is currently underway and, once the results are known, it will be possible to make a full assessment of the incident.”
