Bordighera (Imperia), Aug. 14 (LaPresse) — Greeted by a very long round of applause, the coffin of little Beatrice, the two-year-old girl who died last February in Montenero, arrived at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Bordighera. Hundreds of people crowded the churchyard and the surrounding streets to pay their final respects to the little girl, who died after suffering prolonged abuse; her mother, Manuela Aiello, and her partner, Emmanuel Iannuzzi, are currently in prison for her death. The woman had initially been authorized to attend the funeral. Yesterday, however, the investigating judge revoked that permission for reasons of public order and safety. The coffin was greeted with a blessing and carried into the church, followed onto the churchyard by the child’s grandparents and aunt, who placed a frame containing a photograph on the small white coffin.
