Flotilla: Turkey issues arrest warrant for Netanyahu

Milan, 21 Aug. (LaPresse) – “The legal proceedings relating to the attack carried out in international waters against activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla, who had set out with the aim of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, are continuing with determination.” This was stated by the Turkish Minister of Justice, Akin Gürlek, who announced in a post on the social media platform X: “As part of the proceedings, following the arrest warrants issued on 14 July 2026 against Benjamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch on charges of ‘genocide’, our Ministry of Justice has requested that the Ministry of the Interior issue a Red Notice for the purpose of their international search; the relevant documentation has been forwarded to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” Gürlek points out that Netanyahu and Moskovitch “are accused of crimes against humanity, genocide, aggravated deprivation of liberty, intentional bodily harm, ill-treatment, damage to property, aggravated robbery and the hijacking of means of transport”. “We do not in any way accept the idea that the Netanyahu administration, which is implementing a policy of genocide in Gaza, is untouchable and cannot be held to account for its actions,” continues Gürlek, “we will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be covered up, nor will we allow those responsible to be protected by the shield of impunity. We will resolutely utilise all the tools provided for under national and international law.”
