Milan, 24 Aug. (LaPresse) – An explosion in a two-storey block of flats caused the roof of the building to collapse in the Via Casilina Nord area of Cassino, in the province of Frosinone. The explosion occurred this morning at around 8.45 am. Two people suffered severe burns in the explosion and subsequent collapse; they were attended to by 118 emergency medical staff and were first taken to Cassino Hospital and subsequently to Sant’Eugenio Hospital in Rome, a specialist centre for severe burns. Investigations are being carried out by the Carabinieri from the local station and, at present, no possibility is being ruled out, including the possibility that the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.
