(LaPresse) – The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has accused US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent of lying about the economic impact of the war with Iran and the blockade imposed by Washington. “Lies, lies, they’re burning your trousers,” wrote Ghalibaf in a post on social media platform X, citing an article by Bessent claiming that the blockade and Operation Economic Exclusion had “crushed Iran’s already failing economy” and that the United States had exported 130 million barrels in the previous 14 days, whilst Iran had exported none. “As for the real 130, tell your associate to check Moody’s data showing over 130 billion dollars in war costs, and ask someone else how much Jane Street lost on top of the 130 million dollars by short-selling oil on your behalf in a single futures trade,” added Ghalibaf.
