Belgrade (Serbia), 4 Sept. (LaPresse/AP) – The coffin of Ratko Mladic, former commander of the Bosnian Serb army who died last week whilst serving a life sentence for genocide and other crimes committed during the Bosnian War, has arrived in Belgrade. Wrapped in the national flag, Serbian army soldiers carried it from the aeroplane to a van for transfer to the military hospital. Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic was on the aeroplane alongside Mladic’s family members, whilst groups of nationalist supporters set off signal flares as the escorted convoy carrying the coffin passed by. Mladic’s son, Darko Mladic, said that his father will be buried on Monday, whilst a military memorial service is scheduled for tomorrow. Mladic’s coffin will lie in state in a church in Belgrade on Monday morning so that people can pay their respects.
