Rome, 6 Sept. (LaPresse) – FIFA President Gianni Infantino will stand for re-election in March. This has been confirmed by world football’s governing body itself. “The FIFA President announced in April that he would stand for re-election in 2027,” reads a FIFA statement, quoted by the BBC, “naturally, nothing has changed. Mr Infantino will stand again.” Infantino therefore appears determined to press ahead despite the controversies surrounding the last World Cup, including the Balogun case and the controversial FFE project, which led several FIFA affiliates (including UEFA) to withdraw their support for the current president.
