I am increasingly convinced that I did the right thing in leaving the Carroccio.” Speaking in an interview with *Il Fatto Quotidiano*, Roberto Vannacci, president of Futuro Nazionale, commented on the vote in Saxony. Why did the AfD do so well? Is this a vote against Europe? Rome, 8 Sept. (LaPresse) – “There are many contributing factors. First and foremost, there is the failure of Germany’s right-wing government,” he continued. “Then the CDU also bears responsibility for being allied with the Socialists in Europe, to the extent that most of the time they vote together, pursuing a left-wing agenda. And then, across Europe, people are fed up with this EU that spends money on sending weapons to Ukraine, yet does nothing about repatriating irregular migrants, whilst pursuing that madness known as the Green Deal.” And when asked about the by-election in Reggio Calabria, where Futuro Nazionale is fielding its own candidate even against the centre-right, he replies: “Reggio Calabria will be our Saxony. We’re aiming to win. Forza Italia has put forward a lawyer from Rome who has never even seen the Strait, catapulted there by the Berlusconi family; we, on the other hand, have a doctor who has been active in politics there for years and whom everyone knows.” Are you Moscow’s Trojan horse, as the Financial Times also claims? “No one has ever provided a shred of evidence to back up this accusation,” concludes Vannacci.
