Milan, 12 September (LaPresse) – The Cortonantiquaria Arte 2026 Award has been presented to Gallerie d’Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo’s museums, in recognition of their commitment to promoting art and culture and their ability to build a meaningful relationship with local areas and their communities over time. The award will be collected this evening in Cortona, in Piazza Signorelli, by Tito Nocentini, Intesa Sanpaolo’s Regional Director for Tuscany and Umbria. This was announced by Intesa Sp in a statement. “The award, presented as part of the 62nd edition of Italy’s oldest antiques fair, takes on particular significance in light of the now well-established link between Intesa Sanpaolo’s Gallerie d’Italia and Cortona. Since 2018, Intesa Sanpaolo has been the Main Partner of Cortona On The Move, the international photography festival which, since 2011, has made the city a key centre for contemporary photography in Italy and on the international scene. “Over the years, this collaboration has supported the Festival’s growth through the organisation of exhibition projects featuring leading Italian and international photographers and the promotion of images from the exhibitions at the Gallerie d’Italia in Turin and the Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive,” the statement continues. The partnership is also being renewed in 2026, to mark the festival’s sixteenth edition, dedicated to the theme ‘Beautiful Country’, with Intesa Sanpaolo as Main Partner. Among this year’s projects is ‘Peninsula’, realised in partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo, Gallerie d’Italia and Fondazione CR Firenze: a photographic commission entrusted to ten artists, invited to engage with the physical and symbolic territories of the contemporary Italian landscape. The project is hosted at the Fortezza del Girifalco, one of Cortona’s most iconic landmarks and one of the Festival’s historic venues. Intesa Sanpaolo has contributed to the enhancement of the Fortezza through the Art Bonus scheme, supporting restoration, maintenance and conservation work on certain areas of the complex in 2024 and 2025.
