Milan, 4 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Brother Francis is truly a poet of life and teaches us all to sing of it. He does not play with words, nor does he emphasise his tone in the belief that this makes him profound and convincing; he does not resort to empty rhetoric or pursue personal gain. Brother Francis sings, in every circumstance, of the wholly human and wholly divine beauty of creation, as well as of the world that is every person, every creature, all of them, without qualifications or labels. His world and ours is one marked by terrible wars, a madness that drives people mad, where the only reason to seek is peace and justice, because only these enable us to find and defend all reasons. ‘Praised be you, Brother Francis, for reminding us that war is not our destiny and that peace begins with us and is the only possible future.’ So said Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI), during his homily in Assisi at the Mass celebrating the feast of St Francis.
