Frankfurt (Germany), 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Everyone keeps asking me: when will you stop? When will you stop? When will you stop? I’ve only just turned 85 last month.” This was stated by Navi Pillay, winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, speaking outside the Nuremberg Tribunal, as captured in a video posted on X by Amnesty International’s Secretary-General, Agnès Callamard. The South African legal scholar noted that she remains committed to international justice. “I am currently still involved as an ad hoc judge in the proceedings brought by The Gambia against Myanmar,” she explained, referring to the case before the International Court of Justice concerning allegations of genocide against the Rohingya minority. Pillay also emphasised the importance of the support she has received from colleagues and those committed to defending human rights. “It is very fitting that our good friends, our colleagues – all supporters of human rights – are here,” she said.
