Frankfurt (Germany), 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Unfortunately, there is extensive damage to the power grids and energy transmission infrastructure. Restoration work is continuing round the clock.” This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a message posted on X, following a coordination meeting with military leaders and government representatives to assess the consequences of the Russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure. “I am grateful to all the repair teams, energy company staff and regional authorities who are rapidly restoring the energy system to full operation following the Russian attacks,” said Zelensky, explaining that Kyiv has updated its requirements for energy equipment and air defence systems. “The Foreign Ministry and the Presidential Office team are preparing the necessary communications with our partners. I will speak with the leaders,” he added. The Ukrainian president also criticised delays in implementing plans to strengthen the resilience of infrastructure, particularly in the Kyiv region. “Slowing down this work is absolutely unacceptable, and officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure and regional administrations are personally responsible for this,” he warned.
