(LaPresse) – The Chamber of Deputies’ IT systems have been targeted in recent days by a cyber-attack that also affected some MPs’ email accounts, including that of the Prime Minister and leader of FdI, Giorgia Meloni. Sources at Palazzo Chigi clarify, however, that the Prime Minister’s email address is not the one used for government communications. Furthermore, sources at Montecitorio regarding the attack on the IT systems emphasise that “this is not an emergency situation and is something that occurs on a daily basis”. “All protective measures have been put in place, including in collaboration with the ACN (National Cybersecurity Agency), with whom a specific protocol is in place,” the same sources explain. These measures may also include the temporary deactivation of certain IT system functions, in accordance with standard practice. It also appears that, over the past few days, similar attack attempts and pressure on IT systems have intensified, targeting other national, European and international institutions as well.”
