Milan, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – Jessica Moretti will not take part in the questioning scheduled for 2 November in Sion alongside her husband Jacques, who is currently in prison on charges of domestic violence. The couple is under investigation for the New Year’s Eve fire at their bar Le Constellation in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in which 41 people died. Therefore, on 2 November, only Jacques Moretti is expected to answer the prosecutors’ questions. In a communication sent to the lawyers on 27 October, the two prosecutors announced that they had decided not to “hear Jessica Moretti during the hearing scheduled for 2 November 2026”, at the request of the woman’s lawyers, Yaël Hayat and Nicola Meier. On 26 October, the two lawyers had submitted a document to the prosecution, attaching a certificate from a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist stating that Jessica Moretti “is currently in a particularly fragile psychological state. Even before the recent physical assault perpetrated by her partner, she was suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder linked to the fire of 1 January 2026, aggravated by the considerable psychological burden of the ongoing legal proceedings”. “The recent assault has aggravated her pre-existing vulnerability, leading to a significant worsening of her post-traumatic symptoms”, the report states. “In this context, the prospect of being in the presence of her partner during a joint hearing, given that Ms Moretti has not seen him since the assault and he is currently in prison, constitutes a particularly destabilising experience”. The psychologist concludes: “From a clinical perspective, direct confrontation of this kind currently appears to be contraindicated, as it poses a real risk of acute psychological decompensation. In light of these factors, postponing the hearing scheduled for 2 November 2026 is strongly recommended from a clinical perspective”.
