Rome, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – At least 64 people have died in a train crash this morning in the province of Toledo, following a collision between two high-speed trains. This was reported by the regional government of Castile-La Mancha. Nearly 200 people have been injured, some of them seriously. The accident may have been caused by human error, following a fault in the main signalling system. According to initial reports, a train travelling from Madrid to Seville is believed to have rear-ended another train, which had come to a halt due to a traffic problem on the line, causing several carriages to derail. According to sources at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, five Italian citizens were travelling on the Iryo train involved in the collision: four are in good condition, whilst checks are underway regarding the fifth.
