Hiroshima, March 8 (LaPresse) – The official visit of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to Japan continues in Hiroshima, as reported by the Quirinale. Here, the Head of State will lay a wreath at the Peace Memorial, honoring the victims of the atomic bomb that struck the city on August 6, 1945. Afterwards, Mattarella will visit the Peace Museum, created to witness the destruction caused by the bombing and to remind the world of the importance of peace. He will then head to the Orizuru Tower, where he will meet the President of Nihon Hidankyo, Toshiyuki Mimaki, and the Hiroshima Hidankyo Association. After greetings from Hiroshima Governor Hidehiro Yuzaki and Nihon Hidankyo President Toshiyuki Mimaki, the President will listen to testimonies from two bombing survivors. He will then speak during the meeting.
