Milan, 29 Oct. (LaPresse) – In September 2026, the number of people in employment in Italy fell by 7,000 compared with August and rose by 198,000 year-on-year. This was reported by Istat, which noted that the number of people in employment stood at 24,328,000. The number of unemployed rose by 4,000 compared with August and by 117,000 year-on-year. The number of economically inactive people aged between 15 and 64 fell by 3,000 compared with the previous month and by 293,000 year-on-year. The employment rate for those aged between 15 and 64 in September remained stable compared with August at 63 per cent, whilst the unemployment rate remained stable month-on-month at 6.3 per cent.
