London (United Kingdom), 31 Oct. (LaPresse/AP) – The London Metropolitan Police stated in a press release that 48 people were arrested during a protest outside the US Embassy in London in support of the group Palestine Action, which has been banned in the country. “Officers remain at the scene and are continuing to make arrests,” the statement read. More than 100 people took part in the demonstration, many of whom carried placards bearing the slogan: “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action”. The protesters also organised a vigil in support of Palestine Action outside the US Consulate in Edinburgh, Scotland, displaying placards similar to those in London. No arrests were reported there. The protests took place ahead of an appeal, scheduled for 4 November at the Supreme Court, against the designation of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation.
