Milan, 1 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – Film director Michael Mann was injured on Saturday at a shooting range in Los Angeles. He was taken to hospital, where he received the necessary treatment and is due to be discharged; his spokesperson told the Associated Press on Sunday. Mann sustained what his representative described as a superficial injury, caused by a gun accidentally discharging whilst still in its holster. The 83-year-old director, known for crime classics such as ‘Heat’, ‘Collateral’ and ‘Street Racers’, has been an expert marksman for decades; the incident took place at a licensed shooting range. Despite being in his eighties, Mann remains very active in Hollywood. He recently directed the film ‘Ferrari’, starring Adam Driver, and is working on the development of a sequel to ‘Heat’, with filming due to begin early next year.
