Rome, 1 Nov. (LaPresse) – “With regard to the provisions of the Budget Bill, which will soon be examined by Parliament, we reserve the right to assess the matter in detail once we have studied the legislation thoroughly.” This was stated in a press release by ANM President Giuseppe Tango. “ “It is up to the legislator to regulate this matter, whilst respecting, however, a fundamental principle: the protection of magistrates’ salaries is a prerequisite for safeguarding the independence of the judiciary. As reaffirmed by the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Constitutional Court. It should also be noted, moreover, that changes to magistrates’ emoluments and their salary structures may only be made within the framework of general measures,” concluded Tango.
