Rome, 2 Nov. (LaPresse) – The Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a new investigation into the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, which occurred on 2 November 1975 in Ostia. The case, assigned to Deputy Public Prosecutor Silvia Santucci, was opened following a complaint lodged at Piazzale Clodio in recent weeks by lawyer Stefano Maccioni, who previously represented one of the victim’s cousins, Guido Mazzon. “I make no secret of my emotion and satisfaction at the decision taken by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office to conduct new investigations into the murder of Pier Paolo Pasolini, which took place at the Ostia Idroscalo on the night between 1 and 2 November 1975. As has been highlighted for almost 18 years now, the judicial verdict attributing sole responsibility to Giuseppe Pelosi has been overturned over the years, in particular by the results of the forensic evidence we requested,” says lawyer Stefano Maccioni. “The new application, submitted in November 2025 and subsequently supplemented in May 2026, is based on new evidence gathered by this defence team. We are confident that the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office will finally be able to provide the answers we have been seeking for far too many years, and at the same time we urge all those who, until now, have preferred to remain silent about what they know to come forward and speak out,” added the lawyer.
