Rome, 5 Nov. (LaPresse) – “To scrap the provisions in the Budget Bill that provide for cuts to teaching and ATA staff numbers.” This is the aim of the mobilisation by the school trade unions CISL Scuola, UIL Scuola Rua, SNALS Confsal and ANIEF. The first action will be a sit-in on 11 November in Rome. FLC CGIL has not yet confirmed its participation; it will take to the streets on 20 November for the general strike called by General Secretary Maurizio Landini. Meanwhile, a press conference has been scheduled for 11.00 am on the morning of Wednesday 11 November at the Hotel Nazionale in Piazza Monte Citorio, Rome. According to the unions involved, this is “a phase of dialogue with the government, political parties and parliamentary groups”. The mobilisation includes “an initial event on Wednesday 11 November, with a sit-in in Rome in Piazza Vidoni, near the Ministry of the Civil Service, from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm”. There are also plans for “assemblies to be held during working hours” on “Monday 16 November, involving schools throughout Italy, with national leaders speaking via livestream”.
