Rome, 5 Nov. (LaPresse) – “Under my new directive on CPR, irregular migrants will continue to be examined by doctors from local health authorities, but any negative medical assessment will no longer be binding, so as to prevent their detention in the centres. These individuals will be taken into care by medical staff working at the facility, who will assess all necessary further investigations, including by consulting the relevant local health authority (ASL). This measure ensures the maximum protection of migrants’ health whilst, at the same time, preventing assessments influenced solely by ideological prejudices from hindering return procedures.” So said the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi.
